Garmin Dash Cam X210

No rating shown: we have no owner rating for this camera from a source we can cite. Why

Voice control5 GHz Wi-FiCPL included

The X210 is the middle X-series camera: 2560x1440 at 30fps on the same 140-degree lens and the same built-in Clarity polarizer as the X310, in the same compact body. Dropping from 4K to 1440p takes the pixel density from about 27 to about 18 per degree, which is a real reduction in how far down the road a plate stays legible, and it is the entire difference between the two models. Whether that is worth a hundred dollars depends on whether you mostly care about the car directly in front of you, where 1440p is ample, or about reading something two lanes over. Everything else carries across: voice control, built-in GPS, 5GHz Wi-Fi, H.265 recording, microSD to 512GB, parking guard with the optional constant-power cable, and the same lithium-ion power system rated to 140 degrees Fahrenheit that makes the whole X series a poor fit for a car that sits in the summer sun.

The description and the pros and cons above are written from published specifications, not from owner reports. Owner sentiment, where we have it, is in its own section below.

What the numbers mean here

The front camera records 2,560 horizontal pixels across a published 140-degree field of view, which is 18.3 pixels per degree — plate-legible close in. There is no rear channel on this model. How this is calculated, and what it does not tell you.

It runs on a li-ion battery. In a device stuck to a windshield that is the part most likely to fail in a hot climate, because a lithium cell in a car that reaches well over 140°F is outside its comfortable range. The maker publishes an operating range of -4°F to 140°F. Supercapacitors and heat.

Keeps a rolling buffer, so the seconds before an impact are saved as well as the impact itself. It is the most useful parking mode and the hungriest. The hardwire kit is a separate purchase, which is the line item people forget when budgeting. What each parking mode records.

Features

  • 2560x1440 at 30fps on a 140-degree lens
  • Built-in Clarity polarizing filter
  • Voice control, built-in GPS, 5GHz Wi-Fi
  • Parking guard with the optional constant-power cable
  • microSD to 512GB, H.265 recording

Where it is strong

  • Built-in polarizer, which no other brand here includes at any price
  • 140 degrees at 1440p is about 18 px per degree - respectable for the resolution
  • The same voice control, GPS and app polish as the flagship
  • Smaller files than the X310, so a 512GB card lasts noticeably longer

Where it gives way

  • Lithium-ion power rated only to 140 degrees Fahrenheit
  • 1440p costs a third of the plate detail against the X310 for a hundred dollars less
  • Single channel with no rear camera option
  • Garmin does not publish the sensor part number or the aperture

What owners say

We have not collected enough owner discussion about the Garmin Dash Cam X210 to write this section. We only summarise sentiment for cameras whose owners we have actually read, so this is left empty rather than filled in with something plausible. How we compare explains where the sentiment on other pages comes from.
