The G900 Core is the mirror cam to buy if the sensor matters to you: an 8-megapixel Sony STARVIS 2 IMX678 recording 3840x2160 at 30fps, which is the same front sensor as Viofo's and BlackVue's flagships, in a 12-inch mirror body. The rear camera records 1080p at 25fps and both channels get independent HDR. Wi-Fi 6 on 5.8GHz moves files at up to 20MB/s, which matters because 4K clips off a mirror cam are otherwise painful to retrieve, and voice commands handle locking a clip without reaching up to the screen. Power is a supercapacitor rated -4 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit and cards go to 512GB. The same caveat applies as to every mirror cam here: the front lens is 170 degrees, so those 3840 pixels work out to about 23 per degree and a narrow-lens 1440p camera will out-resolve it on a plate. You are buying the screen and the rear view.

What the numbers mean here
The front camera records 3,840 horizontal pixels across a published 170-degree field of view, which is 22.6 pixels per degree — plate-legible a few lengths ahead. The rear channel manages 12.8, so it is the less detailed of the two. How this is calculated, and what it does not tell you.
It runs on a supercapacitor rather than a lithium cell, so there is no battery to swell in a car parked in summer sun — the classic way a windshield-mounted camera dies. The maker publishes an operating range of -4°F to 158°F. Supercapacitors and heat.
Records continuously at a reduced frame rate, or only once motion or an impact is detected. You get context, at one to three frames a second. The hardwire kit is a separate purchase, which is the line item people forget when budgeting. What each parking mode records.
